The WU API has been around since 2010 to help you develop apps and websites as well as manage your Personal Weather Station data. During that time, we’ve watched you build amazing products and visualize weather data with creativity and purpose.

Over the years, our infrastructure has been unable to keep up with the growing numbers of users coming to us for API data. This has led to higher costs as we worked to keep the service stable and dependable. Eventually, we realized we’d need to make drastic changes or risk serious problems for our API.

As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire the Weather Underground API. The Weather Company, which acquired WU back in 2012, offers a powerful suite of enterprise-grade APIs that might be better suited to meet your scale and performance needs while offering a broader range of weather data. Here’s what you need to know going forward:

• Your subscriptions, and therefore access, will continue to work through 12/31/2018 .

• If you are a paying WU API customer , you will receive a call from a representative from The Weather Company, and IBM business, to discuss transition options to other API services. If you’d like to have these conversations sooner, http://trk.bsftransmit25.com/click/el55-ukvqu-gwk3hv-a9y3zol9/ .

• If you are a Personal Weather Station owner , you will receive more information about our plan to offer free access to the data you provide to Weather Underground. We’ll reach out once that plan has been finalized.

• For developers who use WU API data for non-commercial purposes , you will have access to a new plan for a personal use, low call volume API. Stay tuned for more details as we build this out.

Naja mal schauen. Im zweifel hab ich mir gerade angesehen was die Webseite da so tut … die machen alle paar Sekunden HTTP-Calls mit der Station-ID drin.

Im zweifel bauen wir den Adapter einfach um das er das macht

Hallo zusammen. Hab vor ein paar Tagen von Victoria Gardner eine Email bekommen, dass man wieder kostenlose API Keys für die eigene PWS bekommt.

Zuerst neu anmelden, dann:

Die Nomenklatur hat sich aber geändert. Der aktuelle Adapter bzw die Instanz kommt mit dem neuen Key nicht klar. Prinzipiell funktioniert der API jedoch. Siehe hier:

Ich habe seit neuestem in meinen Logs folgenden Fehler

Wenn ich die Einstellung hier richtig interpretiere, dann wird der Adapter aber nur einmal pro Stunde zur 12ten Minute aufgerufen. Also dürfte eigentlich die erlaubte Häufigkeit nicht überschritten werden.
Weiss jemand was dann der Grund ist für die Meldung "Error: this key is not valid due to exceeding rate plan" ?

Weatherunderground ist nicht mehr gratis!
Deshalb wird dein Key nicht mehr angenommen.

Was heisst "manually disabled"? Dass ich das gemacht hätte, oder waren die das? Ich kann mich jetzt nicht daran erinnern, dass ich das gewesen wäre...

Ich nutze inzwischen den neuen, kostenlosen wunderground API und hole mir alle 3 Minuten mittels Parser Adapter die aktuellen Datenpunkte meiner PWS.
Ich finde das ist ein akzeptabler Aufwand und eine gute Alternative zum Weather Underground Adapter. Ein Umstieg auf andere Dienste hab ich deshalb nicht gemacht, weil meine PWS ( eine Ventus W830) sehr begrenzte Möglichkeiten bietet.
Neben den aktuellen Daten kann man den Forecast theoretisch genauso parsen. Der API Aufruf für den Forecast im Browser geht erfolgreich. Hab es allerdings noch nicht in den Parser programmiert.

Habe gestern dasWetter installiert. War einfach und hat sofort funktioniert. Für mich ist die Funktionalität ausreichend. Habe den weatherunderground deinstalliert.

I like this adapter, but I have a problem with the icons in my VIS.

There is a GIF available with URL https://icons.wxug.com/i/c/c/chanceflurries.gif but the VIS asks for a different URL via the ObjectID weatherunderground.0.forecast.0d.iconURL: https://icons.wxug.com/i/c/c/30.svg. What do I have to change where to get the name instead of the number?

@podex The images are taken over from the API response ... so very strange because it seems that the defined new images but themself do not stick to how they out images on their servers

Crete a GitHub Issue in the adapter repo and add as much infos as avaliable (maybe try to check other imcon setst or such)

Hi,
sometimes some of the objects contain "null".

Example of today:
weatherunderground.0.forecast.0d.tempMax (null)°C

Does anybody have an idea why this happens and how to fix/avoid it?
In the log everything look normal.
My version is 3.4.2

@homeuser sometimes on the evening wu do not provide a 0d max temp or such because the day is nearly over I assume. Enable debug log and you see which data come back.
