The current Node.js version (v20.16.0) is vulnerable to the following CVEs:

CVE-2025-23083(high): With the aid of the diagnostics_channel utility, an event can be hooked into whenever a worker thread is created. This is not limited only to workers but also exposes internal workers, where an instance of them can be fetched, and its constructor can be grabbed and reinstated for malicious usage. 

This vulnerability affects Permission Model users (--permission) on Node.js v20, v22, and v23.

CVE-2025-23085(medium): A memory leak could occur when a remote peer abruptly closes the socket without sending a GOAWAY notification. Additionally, if an invalid header was detected by nghttp2, causing the connection to be terminated by the peer, the same leak was triggered. This flaw could lead to increased memory consumption and potential denial of service under certain conditions.

This vulnerability affects HTTP/2 Server users on Node.js v18.x, v20.x, v22.x and v23.x.

CVE-2025-23166(high):  The C++ method SignTraits::DeriveBits() may incorrectly call ThrowException() based on user-supplied inputs when executing in a background thread, crashing the Node.js process. Such cryptographic operations are commonly applied to untrusted inputs. Thus, this mechanism potentially allows an adversary to remotely crash a Node.js runtime.

CVE-2025-23167(medium): A flaw in Node.js 20's HTTP parser allows improper termination of HTTP/1 headers using `\r\n\rX` instead of the required `\r\n\r\n`.
This inconsistency enables request smuggling, allowing attackers to bypass proxy-based access controls and submit unauthorized requests.

The issue was resolved by upgrading `llhttp` to version 9, which enforces correct header termination.

Impact:
* This vulnerability affects only Node.js 20.x users prior to the `llhttp` v9 upgrade.

Alles gut. Lassen wir das nicht in eine Wortklauberei ausarten.
Ich weiß was zu tun ist und hab auch gelernt öfter mal das Betriebssystem zu checken und ggf hochzuziehen.
Da bin ich halt Apple verwöhnt… das sagt mir halt wenn es Zeit is zu updaten. Wenn man eben wenig mit Linux macht, kann sowas halt auch mal passieren.

Das ist die Freiheit von Linux (hier Debian). Das bevormundet dich nicht, weil du ja weißt was du wann zu tun hast.
Bei anderen Distributionen sagt die Kiste dir auch Bescheid, wenn der Support aus läuft, bzw. wenn ein neues Release verfügbar ist. Schnubbibuntu macht das soweit ich weiß auf den Desktop-Versionen.
Debian (und insbesondere im Serverbetrieb) geht davon aus, das der Administrator so sattelfest ist, das er die Supportzeiträume selber im Blick hat. Gibt ja nicht ohne Grund Übersichten dafür:

@thomas-braun ja, das hatte ich so tatsächlich nicht auf dem Schirm. Auch die relativ kurzen Zeiträume der Versionssprünge nicht.
Aber man lernt ja nicht aus und dank Proxmox und Backups vom iOBroker wirds jetzt auch nicht so der Aufwand werden.
Vermute ich zumindest.

Immer im Sommer eines ungeraden Jahres erscheint ein neues Release. Die abgelöste Version wird dann noch ein Jahr voll unterstützt. Und innerhalb dieser 12 Monate sollte man mal ein Stündchen finden für ein Upgrade auf die dann jeweils aktuelle 'stable'. @asgothian Du kannst ja jederzeit hochziehen. Darfst halt nicht den passenden Zeitpunkt dafür verpassen. Die Karawane zieht ja nur weiter, der Support ist ja für das jeweilige stable release gewährt. Wenn du weißt was du wann tun musst/kannst dann auch über Jahre/Jahrzehnte hinweg.
LTS (5 Jahre) und ELTS (10 Jahre, musste allerdings dann zukaufen) gibt es ja auch noch für Debian. Nur ist das nix für Systeme, bei denen andere Software im Upstream weiterzieht. Beim ioBroker z. B. nodejs. Irgendwann können die im Upstream halt keine Rücksicht mehr auf Debian oldoldoldstable nehmen. Da wird es dann dünn, insbesondere für Leute, die 'von Linux keine Ahnung haben'.
Und deswegen halt die klare Empfehlung, sich mit seinen Kisten immer auf dem aktuellen stable zu bewegen.

Da bin ich dabei. Es ist (leider) inzwischen gängige Praxis jedes Jahr was neues zu bringen.

Aber ich finde es irritierend das es inzwischen als 'ok' angesehen wird das ein System nur für 2 oder 3 Jahre für einen Endnutzer stabil zu nutzen ist, und das Abwärtskompatibilität und Langzeit-Nutzbarkeit kaum noch ein Thema ist.

Kannst ja Arch oder Gentoo Linux verwenden.
Aber das ist dann naturgemäß nicht 'stabil', da ändern sich "am laufenden Band" die Schnittstellen und Software die letzte Woche noch lief funktioniert plötzlich mit der gerade frisch veröffentlichten libxys nicht mehr und muss angepasst werden.
Das haste mit Debian 'stable' halt nicht. Einmal veröffentlicht ist hat das Ding für mindestens 3 Jahre stabile APIs.
Fluch und Segen zugleich. Aber halt der beste Kompromiss aus Aktualität und Stabilität. Einen Tod musste halt sterben, 'top aktuell' und 'rockstable' schließt sich aus.

Das ist eine falsche Interpretation dessen, was die EU verlangt.
In de sieben Jahren wird Dir der Hersteller sukzessive mehrere neue Android Versionen auf Dein Smartphone spielen.

Alternativ sieben Jahre immer bei der gleichen Android Version zu bleiben und nur Patches zu installieren, wird kein Hersteller zubilligen, weil es für ihn Mehraufwand bedeuten würde.
