3 Stunden umsonst ... gut wenn man eine Datensicherung auf einem Ersatzstick hat.
Das mit dem Bullseye werde ich nicht nochmal probieren

Dann installier jetzt direkt Bullseye. Buster ist abgekündigt. Ein Backup zu haben ist eh eine Selbstverständlichkeit.

Was bedeutet direkt bullseye zu installieren? ich bin dem Link gefolgt und habe die Schritte step by step ausgeführt.
Bei apt full-upgrade ist das System bei 90 % gestorben.
Gibt es ein en anderen Weg?

So, wir können das an dieser Stelle beenden. Das Problem anders gelöst:
Mit der Datensicherung das "alte" System neu aufgesetzt und aktualisiert
Backitup neu installiert und den Speicherort neu eingerichtet.
... läuft jetzt in beide Richtungen.
Danke für Eure Hilfsversuche.
Und ja,.... bei Gelegenheit werde ich mich mit Bullseye beschäftigen.

Die Notwendigkeit besteht jetzt, dein Buster wird nicht mehr unterhalten. Upgrade auf Bullseye dringend erforderlich.

Frage aus Interesse:
Dann dürfte ein

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y

bei Buster 10 nichts Neues mehr bringen bzw. ins Leere laufen? Oder wie muss ich das verstehen?

Nach dieser Zwischenveröffentlichung werden Debians Security- und Release-Teams die Arbeit an Aktualisierungen für Debian 10 einstellen. Wer weiterhin Sicherheitsunterstützung erhalten möchte, sollte auf Debian 11 umsteigen

Ein seitens des Herstellers abgekündigtes System selber auf Stand zu halten kannst du als Endanwender nicht leisten, also Upgrade auf ein lebendes Release.

Ok, danke. Wenn diese Meldung von September 2022 ist, hätte ich vorgestern mein Buster 10 gar nicht mehr auf neuesten Stand bringen können (bevor ich nach Anleitung auf bullseye umgestiegen bin). Ist schon alles verwirrend ... :-)

Das ist der Stand vom September gewesen, danach sind keine Updates mehr von Debian über deren Kanäle erfolgt.

Übrigens kann man hier ganz gut sehen, wie die Systeme 'wegsterben' nach einiger Zeit:

https://github.com/nodesource/distributions

nodejs18 und neuer bekommst du auf Debian 9 / Stretch nicht mehr gebaut.

selbst der Stand von heute ist dann der selbe Stand wie zum Abkündigungsdatum

wenn ich heute ein WIN95 ins Netz stellen würde und auf update klicke, wird wahrscheinlich eine Fehlermeldung kommen.
