        und da muss es doch eine möglichkeit über console geben ubzugraden auf die nächst höhere version

                      Installier es neu und halte da dann das EndOfLife im Auge und spring vorher auf den Nachfolger.

                                    Das ist die /etc/apt/sources.list

                                    In deinem Fall muss die so aussehen:

                                    deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ impish main restricted universe multiverse
                                    
                                    deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ impish-updates main restricted universe multiverse
                                    
                                    deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ impish-security main restricted universe multiverse
                                    
                                    

                                    Weitere .list-Dateien (finden sich in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ ) dann ggf. auch anpassen. Mindestens nach dem Upgrade auf den dann gültigen CODENAME (weiß gerade nicht bei welchem Viech die Ubuntus sind)

                                        meine sieht jetzt so aus:

                                          Ja, geht auch. Unter Umständen.
                                          'do-release-upgrade' macht aber u. U. noch anderes als 'nur' die Quellen umstellen. Daher würde ich immer versuchen über diesen Weg zu gehen.

                                            Hast du denn in

                                            ls -lA /etc/apt/sources.list.d
                                            

                                            weitere Dateien drin? Vermultich die nodesource.list.
