I'm the developer of webui, I think I could help you, but I don't get your question. What do you want to achive? please give a little bit more info. (sorry I've not seen this thread until now ...)

I also would use a kind of logic.
Using the input widget, connected to an state where your input is stored.
Triggering on that state on change, read this value and write the value of the according state to another state, that is displayed in the number widget.

@chris-nij You can add additional lovelace cards by adding them to iobroker manually. Go to the configuration of your lovelace adapter. You will find a tab there that will allow you to do exactly that.

Hm.. I really don't understand what you are trying to do. When you say "button" you mean a button in VIS I guess, right? That button then represent a Shelly, right?

Then, a separate VIS page displaying all shelly (how? display what) with a dropdown for each one which shows the area it is in......You really lost me there.

if you have different front ends (mobiles, tablets, pc) with different resolutions, you can use different views as default for each. But you don't have to.

1920x1080 7s not the same as 1080x1920!
so you can switch default views by turning your phone.

therefore I guess that the missing resolution in config maybe the reason, that you cannot select the default checkbox

Das scheint genau der Fall zu sein wo das mit dem JSON nicht funktioniert.
